OPOTIKI BOROUGH
RATES FOR CURRENT YEAR NEW MUNICIPAL BUILDING [by telegraph—own correspondent] OPOTIKI, Wednesday It was decided at a meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council yesterday to strike a rate of s|d for the current year.
Mr. S. Patterson reported on behalf of a committee concerning the proQosed new borough chambers, and after con 6ideration the council decided to build on a site adjoining the borough yards. The town clerk had prepared a plan for a new building, and it was decided to call test tenders to ascertain the cost.
It was stated that since th-o council first occupied the present premises it had paid £IOOO in rent and had lost £33 a year in rates.
