WAIKATO CHAMPIONSHIPS [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday From every point of view tho Waikato amateur boxing championshipa staged in the Alexandra Hall yesterday was tho moat successful boxing tournament held in Hamilton for several years. There were 90 entries, nnd competitors were present from Auckland, Rotorua, Waihi, To Aroha and Hamilton. The Hamilton Boxing Association, under whose auspices tho tournament was held, experienced a lean aoason last year, but the success of tho championshipa augura well for the .association's future. Many of tho contests were full of incident. In the evening the hall was packed, and first-class bouts followed in quick succession. Owing to tho efficient organisation there was no delay in coping with tho record number of contcsta. Tho finals resulted : Paper-weight.—A. Allen (Auckland) beat A. Parlane (Rotorua) on points. Fly-weight.—A. Alien (Auckland) ' beat R. Knock (Auckland) on points. Bantam-weight.—R. Nixon (Auckland) beat R. Knock (Auckland) on a technical knock-out. Feather-weight.—C. Smith (Otahuhu) beat E. Bongavd (Hamilton) on points. Light-weight.—R. Wilson (Hamilton) beat F. S. Allen (Auckland) on points. Wilson also won tho Bran ton Cup, awarded to the most scientific boxer in tho tournament. Welter-weight.—N. Mudgway (Waihi) boat 8. Brown (Glen Massey) on points. With 20 entries this was tho strongest division in the tournamont, and each competitor had four bouts. Middle-weight.—C. Kelly (Katikati) beat N. Cameron (Auckland) on points. Light-heavy.—H. Hepburn (Te Aroha) bent C. Farmer (Te Aroha) on points. Heavy-weight.—O. Farmer (To AroVm) beat 11. Hopburn (To Aroha) on points.
