CREMATION
Sir, —As one who took nn active part, in collecting; funds for the Cremation Societv, which funds were paid to the City Council toward tho establishment of tho crematorium, I would liko to endorse the contents of the letter of your contributor F. H. Mueller, in the Hehald of 17th inst., with the exception of his advocacy of a columbarium, as I think the erection and maintenance of such would bo :i needless expense on the ratepayers generally. Tho relatives of a deceased person can always erect such tombs or monuments over tho ashes, which are the' mortal remains, as their desires and means will warrant. My idea of the disposal of the ashes is to put them in mother earth, with the usual decencies of burial, in a perishable receptacle, so that they will bo absorbed by natural process as early as possible. F. A. Clatvkf,.
