REPORT ON HOLLYWOOD • PAY OF PERFORMERS (Received July 20, 5.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 19 The National Recovery Administration to-day issued a report ssked for by President Roosevelt on the cinema industry. It shows that there are no 1,000,000-dollar actors or actresses on the pay-rolls of Hollywood producers. In only one instance did a star receive a salary of more than 300,000 dollars a year in 1933, while only 12 received over 200,000 dollars. The report comments that the cinema industry has made no material progress in setting the production side of its house in order, and says the starring practice has many vicious features.
