TRAGEDY AT BARRY
WOMAN SENT FOR TRIAL CORONER'S MURDER VERDICT (Received July 20, 10.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 20 At Carcoar to-day the coroner found that John Ryan died of hemorrhage from a bullet wound in t"Be checfc feloniously and maliciously inflicted at Barry on June 7 by Mrs. Charlotte Fowler, aged 58. He committed lier for trial on a charge of murder. The coroner said ho could nob declare what, was the motive for the crime and he would not hazard a guess at it, but there were certain features about the evidence and the movements of a certain person that could not be dismissed. The inquest had lasted nine days. Mr. John Ryan, aged 79. a retired farmer, was found dead early in June. His body was in a sitting posture in an armchair in an isolated cottage, where ho had lived by himself, on his sou's property- The detectives ascertained that Mr* Ryan formerly was a wealthy man. Ho sold a large portion of his property to his two sous at a nominal figure, but the residue of the property disappeared in some unaccountable way. A bullet woKnd in the victim's head disclosed that lso had been shot at fairly close range, possibly while he was asleep in front of tho fire. The arrest of Mrs. Fowler followed. ~
