RESTRICTED IMPORTS FOREIGN PIECE GOODS British Wireless RUGBY. July IS The Colonial Secretary, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, stated in the House of Commons to-day that the necessary action had been taken by the great majority of British colonies which had been invited to introduce a system of quota restrictions on imports of foreign piece goods. According to available information, action had been taken in the Bahamas, Barbados, British Guiana, Cyprus, Fiji, Gambia, Jamaica, Malay States, Malta, Mauritius, Nigeria, St. Lucia, St. Yincent, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somaliland, Straits Settlements and Trinidad. Apart from the action as to textile quotas. Sir Philip said, special duties liad been imposed in the West African colonies on imports of certain other manufactured goods from Japan.
