Derbvshire, which the visitors won by nine wickets, the ball was greasy when plav was resumed to-day. Consequently in the first half-hour the batsmen were not troubled by "Wall and Ebeling. Fleetwood-Smith displaced the latter, and Storer, in attempting to hook Wall, was caught at square-leg. He had batted solidly for 130 minutes. Mitchell was bowled in the same over, in which Copson beautifully straightdrove Bromley for six, but was stumped next ball. The innings lasted three hours and yielded 139. Requiring only 30 runs for a win Brown and Bromley opened Australia's second innings against an irregular pair in Jackson and Ford. The game was continued in steady rain in order to avoid play after' luncheon. Hitting at everything Brown was bowled by a half-volley. Bromley and Bradman soon got the remainder of tho runs from " gift " balls.
