OPPERMAN'S SUCCESS GREAT 12 HOURS' RIDE (Received July 6, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. July 4 The Australian cyclist Hubert Opperman has left London on an attempt to beat 0. Marshall's London to York record and A. W. Rossiter's world's 12hour unpaced record. Opperman reached York in 9 hours 23 minutes, thus breaking Marshall's record by seven minutes. The cyclist had a puncture and lost seven minutes at railway crossings. He continued in humid heat and under' difficult conditions beat Rossiter's 242 miles record by 15 miles.
