HARBOUR LIGHTS GUILD

About 40 members of the committee of the Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild met at the Flying Angel Mission yes-

terday, the meeting being presided over 0 by Mrs. Preston Chambers. The honorary secretary. Mrs. E. W. J. Bowden, reported on the success of the social functions held during the past month. Further details were arranged regarding the forthcoming nautical fair and a roster of helpers for the nightly socials for the visiting seamen was' drawn up. The chaplain, the Rev. H. K. Vickery, reported that the month of June had been quieter than usual, but that this week large musters of lads and men had made use of the institute. On Monday an entertainment was given by the Maori girls from the Queen Victoria School, assisted by Miss Mavis Ward, her pupils and Miss Lorna Gibson, Miss E. Coleman and Petty' Officer Canty. The following nights the junior branch of the guild had been responsible for the socials. Last evening both branches of the guild arranged a social and dance, which was well attended by the seamen from ships in port. The men extended their thanks for the hospitality received et the mission during their stay here.
