COOK ISLANDS FRUIT
HIGHER EXPORT LEVY FUND FOR FERTILISERS [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Thursday An amendment to the Cook Islands fruit regulations is notified in to-night's Gazette. The purpose of the new regulation is to comply with the request of the Islands Council and the packing-shed committees of Rarotonga to increase the levy on exported fruit from one penny to a sum not exceeding fivepence to provide a fund for the supply of manures to the growers for their orange areas. It follows an announcement by the Union Steam Ship Company of a reduction in freights 011 fruit 'shipped at Cook Islands for New Zealand markets.
