WAGGONS DERAILED
GOODS TRAIN AT DRURIY PERMANENT WAY DAMAGED ofHER TRAFFIC DELAYED • £ I Four waggons of the Auckland-Well-ington goods train were derailed at Drury last night and the train was delayed for three hours. The permanent way. was damaged, but the extent of the damage to the waggons will not be known until a complete inspection is made this morning. , The train left Auckland at 7.15 last evening and a chain on the northern side of the Drury station a waggon left the rails and caused three others to be derailed. The four waggons were dragged about six chains before the train was brought to a standstill and the leading two came to rest partly on the southern end of tho platform. Fortunately, at Drury the station is of the "island" type, where there is a loon in the main track. The result was that it was possiblo to bring the northern end of the train round to the southern end and thus connect the undamaged sections in that manner. A gang of men was soon on the scene of the accident, and although the work was made difficult in the darkness, the delay was reduced to a minimum. It was expected that the waggons would be replaced on the track early this morning. Should they be undamaged they will be taken by another train this morning and forwarded to their destination. The cause of the accident is unknown.
Other rail traffic was affected to some extent, tho passenger train from Rotorua, arriving normally at 10.56, being delayed for half an hour. In addition, goods traffic was delayed.
