THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE A SLIGHTLY, EASIER TONE Operations on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday were marked by a slightly easier tone. Concessions were made by some sellers and an average turnover resulted. Government loans were inactive, offers for the longer-term / stocks being a shade lower. Further downward movements took place in banks. Commercials lost Id to 2d on the levels and a parcel changed hands id lower at 15s 10kl. The preference issue was done unchanged at £9 13s. New Zealands were released 3d cheaper at -18s Gd, and more were not wanted at that price. Support was also easier for the D preference issue, which, however, sold at the current rate, 3-ls 3d. Sellers of Nationals of Australasia, £5 paid, firmed after a transaction at £G, a loss of Us over some weeks. Nationals of New Zealand were available 2s lower ,at £3 18s, but offers were reduced by an almost corresponding amount. An improvement in the demand for South British /Insurance accompanied a sale unchanged at 79s 9d. / The uncertain state of the wool market has lessened the demand for loan and agency shares. However, Farmers' Auctioneerings, B preference, were placed, twice unchanged at 21s. Westport Coals remained firm and a parcel was taken Id higher at ISs Id. Auckland Gas, contributing, were dealt in at the current rate. In timbers Kauris gained 6d in a transaction at 17s 6d, while Nationals were placed 8d lower at 6s 10d. Farmers' Trading. B preference, sold at 14s. a rise of 6d, and New Zealand, Rcfngcratings, £1 paid at 19s "3*d, which is id lower. Considerable interest was shown m New Zealand Breweries and Colonial Sugars, but no sales were made.
