DUCK ILLEGALLY SHOT
MAN FINED AT ROTORUA [by telegraph—ownr correspondent] ROTORUA. Thursday A charge of shooting a grey duck without possessing a licence was preferred against A. J. Rhodes in the Rotorua Magistrate's Court to-day. Mr. A. Kean, conservator for the Rotorua district, said that instructions were given to a ranger to go to Lake Rotoehu on May 16, following reports of illegal shooting. The ranger heard two shots fired during the afternoon and saw a bird in the water. Defendant* was shooting from a boat. He admitted to the ranger that he did not possess a licence.
A fine of £5 and 10s costs was imposed.
