IMPORTERS' AFFIRMATION The following resolution was passed a mooting of tho executive of tho Now Zealand Importers' Federation held in Wellington on Tuesday rolativo to the controversy between the Minister of Finance, tho Rt. Hon. J. G. Coatos, and the federation: — s
"The executive of tho Now Zealand Importers' Federation reaffirms that tho total direct and indirect cost of controlled exchange, for the year ended March 31, 1934, approximated £12,000,000. This includes tho cost of purchasing London funds from tho Associated Banks, which has been charged to a Government suspense account. .It regrets that tho Minister of Finance refuses to disclose tho exact amount debited to the suspense account, and hopes that Parliament will insist on getting tho necessary information."
