WATER FOR HUNTLY
o PLANS TO BE PREPARED SUM OF £15,000 INVOLVED [from our own correspondent] HUNTLY, Wednesday A special meeting of the Iluntly Borough Council was held last for the purpose of discussing the question of the installation of a water-sup-ply scheme for Huntly. As the coun« cil had previously considered a proposal to cost about £20,000, it was now stated that a similar schema could be installed for approximately £15,000. It was decided ' that the council's engineer should be asked to submit amended plans and specifications " for the scheme in order that the council might approach tho Loans Board later for authority to take a poll of the ratepayers on the question. Tho scheme, if gone on with, would absorb from 60 to 70 men for about six months. The men would work five days a week, at 12s 6d a day, und the Unemployment Board would subsidise » certain amount (about £7so)' o': the wages to be paid by the council.
