AUSTRALIAN MATCH CURTAIN-RAISER TO RUGBY Intimation was received at last evening's meeting of the executive of the Auckland Association that arrangements had been made to play the AucklandAustralian hockey match as a curtainraiser to the representative Rugby football match between Auckland and Taranaki at Eden Park on September 15. A request was received from the Bodney Association for a visit from an Auckland representative or club team. It was resolved to offer a match with an Auckland B representative team on July 21. Notification of the donation of 2G hockey sticks for schoolboys from the Herbert Smith trust fund was received. Further entries for the fifth grade competion were received from St. Luke's and the Auckland Grammar School. The following regradings were approved:— S. Hawkins (Auckland Grammar), second to fourth; T. Roscveare (Auckland Grammar), second to fourth; T. Stacey (Wesley), senior to second; F. Trenwitli (Wesley) second to third. WHANGAREI ASSOCIATION [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Tuesday The Whangarei Hockey Association held a very successful seven-a-side tournament at Kensington Park yesterday, when 30 teams competed. The grounds were in .very good order, and there waß a good attendance. The following are the results of the respective sections:—Men's: Springfield A beat Whangareir in tho final by 3 goal (Carter) to 0, after a very fine pnmc. Women's A grade: Hinemoa defeated Old Girls by 3 to 0, thus winning this section. In the final of tho women's B grade section botween Portland and Old Girls there was no score when time was called. An extra spell was played and Portland won by 1 goal to 0. Miss Williamson scoring. TAUMARUNUI COMPETITIONS [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAUMARUNUI, Tuesday The annual hockey seven-a-sido tournament v/as held yesterday, the winning' team being. Rovers, with 10 points, Taumarunui being the runners-up with nino points.
