ESCAPE OF BRIGANDS
PRISON SENTRIES KILLED LOOTING OF ARSENAL FLIGHT INTO JUNGLE (Received Mny 22, 6.45 p.m.) CALCUTTA, May 22 _Jied by .Tagira, a notorious desperado, 27 men who were serving sentences for being armed brigands escaped in a daring fashion from the Faridkot State prison yesterday. Jagira, who was conversing with a Sikh sentry at the prison gate, suddenly seized his long beard through the bars and pulled him to the ground, while others snatched his keys and rifle and shot him dead. The men then shot dead the sentry of the prison arsenal, looted 19 rifles and 1000 rounds of ammunition and fled to the jungle. They are being pursued by large forces of police.
