Mrs. Henry Siedeberg, Dunedin, and Mrs. N. G. Powell, Whangarei, are at the Station Hotel. Mrs. V. E. Lo Prou, of National Park, is staying with her parents at Devonport for a fortnight. Mrs. G. F. Cork, who has been staying with Mrs. T. M. Peters, Taumarunui, has returned to Auckland. Mrs. C. K. Munro, Whangarei, is tho guest of her mother, Mrs. E. Towner, Belle Vue Road, Mount Eden. Overseas visitors at the Hotel Cargen include Mrs. W. W. Haokett, London, and Mrs. E. Woollett, Queensland, Australia. Miss Dina Isaaes returned to Auckland yesterday after spending the past six weeks visiting tho Wairarapa and Wellington. M iss Mayo-Robson (England), who is tho guest of Mrs. W. E. Collins, Wellington, will leave for Auckland shortly en route for tho Islands. Mrs. Hart, wife of the Administrator of Samoa, who has been visiting friends in Wellington and tho Wairarapa, is leaving this week on her return to Samoa.

A demonstration of glovo making was given by Mrs. Davidson to members of the Women's Progressive Club of the Y.W.C.A. Mrs. Sullivan presided. Mrs. Rawley, delegate to the National Council of Women, reported upon the last meeting of the council. The hostesses were Mesdainos Bray, Brown and Horsfield.

The Victoria League Dramatic Circle held its fortnightly mooting in the league t rooms, when T. C. Murray's "Autumn Fire"—a drama of Irish life, was read. Those reading -were: Misses M. Earl, Wyn Kent, Noni Wright and Eileen Adkins, and Messrs. Alan McSkimmiug, Townley, Little and Brian Betts.

Mrs. Betsy Houghton, the oldest inhabitant of lrttdingborough, near Northampton, who celebrated her DBth birthday, is a woman with a remarkable family record. Her descendants number over 100 and include live fenerations. There arc 37 grandchildren, 0 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Two sons and daughters are still alive.

Mrs. J. Schultz presided over the monthly' meeting of the Belmont-Bays-water branch of the League of Mothers, held in the Belmont Presbyterian hall. Much regret was expressed at the decision made by Mrs. J. Schultz to retire from office at the annual meeting. Competitions were won by Mrs. G. Hawkesworth, Mrs. Whcatley and Miss Hawkesworth. The tea hostesses were Mrs. Cahill, Mrs. Ogilvie, Mrs. Lonergan and Mrs. Kitchenman.

For the last 25 years Canadian women have been excluded from the Royal Canadian Academy; it is therefore the cause of much satisfaction in women's circles that it recently reopened its fellowship to women by the appointment of Miss Marion Long, an artist of great renown. It is hoped that now, after the exclusion of women from the academy has been Riven up in principle, other appointments of women artists of merit will follow.

A "bring-and-buy" afternoon was held in the Glen Eden Public Hall in aid of the Plunket Society. The Bev. Lc Y. Binet introduced Lady Sinclair-Lockart, who spoke on the work of the society. Miss Pattrick also addressed the meeting on its work in other countries. Mrs. Allen and Miss Colegrove, from headquarters, were also present. A selected programmo of items was presented by children, and afternoon tea was served by the committee.

Miss Maisy Campbell, Perth, who visited England some months ago to do research work in dental surgery, has been made a member of the Royal Dental Association of Great Britain. This is a distinction that Englishwomen have more difficulty in attaining than Australians, because women dental students arc not received at any of the big London hospitals. Previous to her stay in England, Miss Campbell was a houso surgeon at the Perth Dental Hospital, being the first woman to br: appointed to such a position.

In aid of Christ Church (Anglican) of Taupiri a card evening was held in the local ball 011 Saturday. The winner of the Indies' prize was Mrs. A. Shepherd and of the gentlemen's, Mr. R. Groves, while Mrs. E. R. Catley and Mr. A. Gregory were the winners of the ladies' and gentlemen's consolation prizes respectively. Among the ladies present were:—Mrs. A. H. Waring, Mrs. I' 1 . R.
