GAMES ON SUNDAYS

Sir.—Your correspondent. Franklin Welib, says that 10 years ago in England he never heard anyone say it was wrong to play games on Sundays. I would like to state that back at that time I was a member of three clubs in England and one of the strictest rules was that no member was allowed to use any of the club's property on Sundays. Also, I may say, that as sportsmen we observed this rule in our private capacities. I know, further, that ether clubs were unite as strict about Sunday observance. Mr. Webb also mentions the Continental Sunday. This is the very thing that we as Englishmen guarded against and this guardianship is more needed to-day than ever. John Edwards.
