THE GREAT AIR RACE

Sir, —I see eight countries are competing in the Melbourne air race. Why has New Zealand not sent in an entry? Is it because the people have 110 confidence in our pilots, or is it because no one could afford a few shillings to help buy a machine? I am confident that we could get the money, if someone would only make a start. As for the pilot, we have one of the best in Captain Hewett; his war decorations prove this. Cannot we do something to enter a pilot before .June 1? I am willing to do my share if others will do the same. Anxious.
