CAMBRIDGE GAME
STUBBORNNESS OF BATSMEN TWO GOOD STANDS MADE LONDON. May 11 In the final stages of the Australians' match against Cambridge University Dinwiddy and Jehangir Khan were soon out, but Cox and Davies scored freely from Wall. This ninth wicket partnership proved so difficult to break that Grimmett was called on, though originally it was not intended to bowl him. Cox and Davies rapidly added 46 before Ebeling uprooted Davies' middle stump. The last wicket added 43. Cox was unconquered, and in making top score for the University played an enterprising innings. He batted /5 minutes and his half-century included nine fours. The fielding of the visitors, with the exception of Bradman and Brown, compared poorly with the speed, dash and brilliant picking up of the University eleven. The corrected bowling figures for Cambridge's second innings are: Fleetwood-Smith, threo wickets for 31 runs, Darling two for 9, Ebeling two for 33, Wall two for 60, Grimmett none for 17.
