DAVIS CUP CONTEST
FRENCH TEAM SELECTED BRITAIN'S GOOD PROSPECT PARIS, May 4 The French Davis Cujj team to play against the winner of the AustraliaJapan tie (in England) on May 18 will comprise:—Borotra, Boussus, Brugnoh, and Merlin. The two last-named" will play in the singles, with Borotra and Brugnon as the doubles pair.
Sporting newspapers, discussing the Davis Cup, generally express the opinion that France cannot survive the match with the winner of the Australia-Japan tie. The loss of Satoh and the mastery of Crawford have weighted the scales' in Australia's favour against America and Japan. The cup has always gone to the country with the best singles pair, and Perry and Austin (Britain), fulfil this need.
The Daily Mail says it is hard to conceive of anyone beating Perry, "who is the best player the world has seen."

Japan's Davis Cup team, a very impressive service was held on the Waseda University courts. Many priests cl;id in purple, scarlet and white robes chanted solemn Buddhist rites. Sato's comrades addressed the gathering.
