Stammers, B—6, 6—B, (3—2.. ■ " Perry Proves His Superiority The courts were slow after heavy rain and a boisterous wind prevailed. Perry again proved his superiority over Crawford.. Both drove beautifully. Perry was confident and extremely difficult to pass at the net. He reached everything on either wing and smashed Crawford's tosses in deadly fas&ion. Crawford scored with good volleys, but Perry was surer and won outright with the first volley nearly every time he approached the net.
There would have ■ been more consolation in the all-Australian final of the doubles if Turnbull and Quist had not had to fight hard to beat the Frenchmen in the semi-final. The problem of Australia's Davis Cup doubles pair remains unsolved. Although admittedly, Turnbull has not reached his best form, it is not a comforting .prospect to have Crawford and McGrath carrying both the doubles and the singles. Results on the Previous Day Yesterday's results were:—

He was particularly; sound on the backhand, but served many doubles. He finished full of vitality." Kirby played finely against Perry", justifying his.victory over McGrath, but he could not stand up to Perry's strong driving.
