ENGINEERS' REUNION
MEMORIAL SERVICE HELD The seventh annual reunion of members of past and present engineering units in tho Auckland district, and of engineers who served in tho Great War, was hold in tho Tiffin Tearooms on Saturday night. Tho function was largely attended, members being present from as far alield as Whakatane, Otorohanga and Whangarei, while the association of those present with engineering units dated from 1869 to tho present day. Captain L. F. Itudd presided, and the programme was under the direction of Major A. T. Dow and Mr. L. A. Eady. During the evening a lecture was given by Sir .losoph Smith on irrigational engineering in the Punjab. Tho magnitude of the undertakings and the resulting benefits to tho country wero illustrated by lantern slides. Items wore given by Mr. Alan MeElwain, Mr. Bent, Mr. G. H. Kessall and Mr. S. Carter. The toast "Fallen Comrades" was proposed by Lieutenant C. W. Chilcott, and that of "The Corps" by Colonel J. E. Dnigan, Major A. T. Dow and Major W. A. Gray responding on behalf of past and present units respectively. The following were elected to tho standing committee:—Major A. T. Dow, Lieutenant' M. K. Draffin, Lieutenant F. G. Ashley, Mr. L. A. Eady. The annual memorial service for members of the Auckland Field Company of Engineers who fell in the Great War was held at St. David's Church yesterday morning. About 100 members of engineering units assembled at the corner of Newton Road and Symonds Street and marched to the church under the command of Major W. A. Gray. During the service, which was conducted by the Rev. W. Bower Black, a. wreath was placed on the memorial tablet in the church.
