THE S.P.C.A.

Sir, —The letter appearing over the signatures of M. E. Younghusband and It. and M. Arthur attacks the veracity of the statements made in my letter in your issue of April 7 last. I suggest that a committee of three prominent Auckland citizens be appointed to peruse the minutes of the committees for the past few years and to issue a report to the public stating:—(l) Whether the statements of my previous letter are correct in all essential details. (2) Whether the minutes establish the fact, that the purchase of the Penrose home and engagement of the veterinary surgeon was the result of a unanimous decision of the committee. If the decision of such impartial committee does not substantiate the correctness of my statements but supports those contained in the letter of the correspondents referred to I am prepared to immediately pay into the funds of the society the sum of £SO providing your correspondents will make a similar contribution if such committee is able to verify the correctness and fairness of my letter,, Furthermore, if the verdict of such an independent committee is against the veracity of my statements then I undertake to resign from mv present position as chairman and will recommend to the members of my committee that they likewise should resign in order that the society may elect other representatives. H. G. Mn,BUR.v, Chairman Executive Committee,
