COMPLETION OF TOUR
PUBLIC WORKS MINISTER
NORTH AUCKLAND COUNTIES OVER 900 MILES TRAVERSED Completing a ton days' tour of the North Auckland counties, the Minister of Public Works, Hon. J. Bitchencr, travelled from Warkworth to Auckland on Saturday and left for Wellington last evening. In the course of his tour the Minister travelled over 900 miles, conferred with seven county councils, and heard representations from over -10 deputations.
On Saturday morning Mr. Bitcliener, accompanied by Mr. A. J. Murdoch, M.P. for Marsden, and Mr. W. K. Becroft, chairman of the. Rodney County Council, visited Matakana and Leigh, and proceeded over tho wellknown Pakiri Hill to Pakiri villago. There a large number of local residents met him and urged improvement to the hill road, and also to the PakiriWliangaripo road.
At Matakana the Minister was met by a deputation, which asked for completion of the partly-metalled Mata-kana-Whangai ipo road. "I have made no • promises on this tour except for careful consideration," said tho Minister in reply.
