DEPARTURE OF TOFUA
NEW SUPPLY OF COAL OPERATIONS AT WHANGAREI - [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI. Saturday ■ The steamer Tofua, which arrived at Kioreroa for bunker coal at 12.40 p.m. yesterday, sailed at 10.30 a.m. to-day in continuation of her voyage to Japan, via Newcastle.
Twenty minutes after the vessel's arrival the bunkering operations were commenced by means of the steam crane that was formerly situated on Onerahi wharf. The ship's gear X?as not used and the loading of the 450 tons of coal required was carried out expeditiously and without a hitch. At 5.30 p.m., when about 300 tons of coal had been put into the Tofua's bunkers, the work was stopped. It 'was com: pleted early this morning.
