EFFORT TO LIQUIDATE DEBT THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU Saturday The financial statement presented at the second, annual meeting of the Te Awamutu Municipal Band showed that aboit £BOO had been raised in the pasb 18 months for the purchase of uniforms, instruments and music. The present indebtedness was £156 for instruments and £B2 for uniforms. The band decided to make a united effort to be free of debt by the end of the present financial year. The following officers were elected: —Patron, the Mayor, Mr. C. G. Dov<-nes; president, Mr. M. G. Galloway; vice-presidents, Messrs. _ A. Brown, F. J. Gilbert and H. C. Rainey; secretary, Mr. J. Wilton; treasurer, Mr. A. G. Warburton; conductor, Mr. R. H. Close; bandmaster, Mr. Roy North; drum major, Mr. Leslie Armstrong; committee, Messrs. W. Mansforth, G. Galloway, R. H. Close, W. Too bill, W. Boys, L. S. Armstrong and' J. Wilton, with two nominees of the Borough Council; auditor, Mr. G. O. Jourdain; custodian, Mr. W. Mensfortb; librarian, Mr. J. A. Sharpies. It. was decided to ask the Borough Council to provide a grant for enlarging the present band room.

FINANCES SATISFACTORY ![from our own correspondent] UA.XJRANGA,' Saturday The annual meeting of tho Tauranga Municipal Band was held this week, when there was a large attendance of members and friends, Mr. B. C. Robbins presided. The annual report showed that the band had had a successful year and the membership had increased from 23 to 27. The balance-sheet disclosed a satisfactory financial position, with an excess of assets over liabilities of £3lO. Officers were elected as follows: —President, Mr. B._ C. Robbins; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. Law, P. T. Keam, Chantrey Harris, T. M. Bloor, R. Clarkson, J. Padlie, J. Gain, Vowles, L. Norm,' F. J. Allely, K. J. Rennie, P. F. Pureell, H. E. Olding and L, Armitage; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. T. Milne; auditor, Mr. C. T. Clinkard; drum major, Mr. D. Cameron; deputy-bandmaster and band sergeant, Mr. R. Stewart; corporal and librarian, Mr. F. Bougen; assistant librarian, Mr. T. James; delegates to Soinh Auckland Brass Bands' Union, Messrs, E. Patterson (bandmaster) and T. Milne; executive committee, Messrs. H. Bougen, E. Smith, C. Jones, F, Bougen, T. Gibson, R. Stewart, T. Milne, T. M. Bloor, P. S. Densem, P. T. Keam, L. Norris and Vowles, also two representatives of the Borough Council, Messrs. F. J. Allely and J, Law.
Mr. T. M. Bloor urged that an effort should be made to hold the next contest of tho South Auckland Brass Bands' Union at Tauranga next Easter, and the matter was referred to tho executive committee for consideration.

Tho Mayor, Mr. W. T. Osborne, presided over a full attendance of bandsmen, borough councillors and honorary members,
The balance-sheet showed that the accumulated fund now amounted to £19(1. The band working account showed a loss of £4O, after charging this account with depreciation amounting to £52.
The following officers were elected:— Bandmaster, Mr. G. Largo; band sergeant, Mr. I. Crickett; band corporal, Mr. A. Allatt; lance-corporal Mr. T. Large:; librarian, Mr. O. F. Shositon; assistant-librarian, Mr. O. Large; custodian, Mr. O. Redshaw; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Reason; auditor, Mr. W. T. Osborne; representatives of baud on management committee, Messrs. W. Reason, I. Crickett and O. Redshaw,,
