HIKURANGI SWAMP WORK
MEN DECLINE TO RESUME [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Sunday There was a large attendance at tho public meeting held in Hikurangi tonight to consider the position of the 66 married relief workers who recently ceased work on tho Hikurangi swamp area. The chairman of the Hikurangi Town Board, Mr. It. Nesbitt, presided and advised the men in their own interests to resume work as suggested by the Unemployment Board. • However, the men intimated they would not resumo under the original conditions of work and tho meeting closed with no action being taken.
