OIL PRODUCTION
COAL AS THE SOURCE AUSTRALIAN PROPOSITION CANBERRA. April 21 A small committee is to be appointed to report upon tho question of establishing a plant in Australia for tho production of oil from coal by tho hydrogenation process. Tho Investigation Committee considers that Ncwnos is the most economical location for a retorting and treatment plant for tho production of oil from shale. It suggests that a company be formed with a capital of £600,000. Since the appointment of the committee reductions in petrol prices have decreased the retail value of the proposed output from Ncwnes by about £IOO,OOO a year.
