BRITISH GOODS
NEW ZEALAND IMPORTS REDUCED TARIFF URGED LONDON, March 23 The vice-chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board, Mr. Dynes Fulton, has arrived in London. He said a reduction of the tariffs on British goods imported into New Zealand was urgently needed. Producers and exporters, and also importers of British goods, were making a strong effort to secure a radical reduction of the tariffs, which was vital to the future of the Dominion. He hoped next session of Parliament would see a drastic change ju tariffs. Official New Zealand circles are surprised at Mr. Fulton's statement, in view of Britain's recent rejection of New Zealand's tentative proposal to allow British goods practically a free market in the Dominion in return for free entry of New Zealand produce into Britain after the Ottawa agreements expire. Britain, in spite of this offer, is determined, in the interests of her own farmers, to regulate imports of New Zealand and other Dominion produce.
