TE AWAMUTU QUOTATIONS HEAVY YARDING OF CATTLE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, reports that at the company's To Awarruitu stock sale on Thursday one of the heaviest yardings of fat and store cattle for some years came forward, there being approximately double the usual number, 600 head altogether. A usual supply of ox beef and a fair proportion of good quality cow and heifer beef elicited keen competition from local butchers, while the whole of the balance of the entry, which was principally plain cattle, made prices on a par with recent rates. Forty bulls also realised late rates, while there was not much inquiry for yearling heifers. A small pen sold for 19s 4d. Practically the whole of the. wetheru were bought by Waikato -buyers. The cattle were without doubt one of the best yardings that has been submitted to auction in the district for sqne time. They were of exceptionally good quality, and a big proportion was carryirffi a- good deal of condition. There was a good attendance of buyers fnom the Waikato and Bay of Plenty districts, and the whole yarding change! hands at very Ktisfactory prices. Good cows generally made from £3 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d; Jerseys, light, £1 vs 6d; medium. £1 12s M; prime heavy, £2 12a 6d. The entry of fa.t sheep totalled 5197 ewes, which hardly maintained their value. Lambs were of better quality than usual, and values accordingly were firmer.
