MORALITY OF FILM

(30MPLAINT BY CLERGYMAN ] REPLY BY THE CENSOR The objections of the Rev. R. H. Trill, of Takapuna, concerning the alleged immorality of a short film screened at the Picturedrome Theatre, Milford, were referred to in a letter from the film censor at Wellington, received at a meeting of tho Takapuna Borough Council last evening. Mr. Trill's objections to the nature of the film were recently forwarded to the censor by the council. In his reply to the council, the censor pointed out that the production had been screened throughout the Dominion, and Mr. Trill's objection was the only complaint received. The clerk, Mr. H. L. Bowden, reported. that the proprietor of the Picturedome Theatre, Mr. L. L. Speedy, had issued an invitation to the council to attend a special screening of the film, but the invitation had to be cancelled as the film could not now be' obtained. " That is disappointing," remarked Mr. T. N. Rollo. " There would have been a 'bumper' attendance." The letters were received.
