AUCKLAND CLUB'S SEASON; SUCCESS IN PENNANT MATCHES The report to be presented at the ar nual meeting of ths Auckland Golf C'ub on April 14 states that the membership at the close of the year was as follows:—Playing members, 175; playing youths, 17; limited members, 46; country members, 14; non-playing members, 57; life' members, 5; boy members, 50.

Pennant matches were inaugurated during: the year, and the clul) won the pennants for both the A and B grades. The congratulations of the club aro_ to those members who took part in tho various mutches played. Owing to tho alteration in tha conditions for play, the committee legr'ts that the club will not be a competitor in these matches for the forthcoming, seitson.

The Auckland provincial championship mneting will bo held at Easier at Titirangi, to be followed by. the Kirk-"\Vindeyer Cup contest at Middleinore. Both these events will afford members an opportunity of witnessing the best playeTs of Australia and New Zealand in iictton. The club's course should be in first-olaiis order for play at the commencement cf the season. The fairways have responded to tho treatment given during the year and to the effect of the new machine purchased during the seiison. The greens show promise of improvement. The committee records with, repret the lons through death of Sir Alfred Bankart. Messrs. W. Brander, F. Hull, A. E. Ivernct, and Dr. W. H. Purkes. ( The financial position of the club as 'disclosed by the balance-sheet shows a slight, improvement, compared with the previous year. Having rega;d to 'i;he abnormal times through which the club, in common with other clubs, has been passing, the comtmtteo feels that the risult disclosed' cap be regarded as satisfactory. Tod presided over an attendance of nearly 40 members. The annual report drew attention to the difficulties under which the club had laboured for the greater part.of the season, owing to the clubhouse being, destroyed by fire.
