NEARLY DROWNED
MAN'S FOOLISH WAGER A man recently dived iato the main irrigation canal which flows through Yanco, New South Wales, and attempted to swim 40 yards under water, to decide a wager. After, swimming l<f yards under water he rose to the surface, 'calling for help. . ' Three spectators, fully dressed, including Mr. Neil Steen, dived to the rescue!, but the man could not Off located. One of the rescuers got into trouble, and was rescued with dimcmty. After several dives, Mr. Steen locates the o'lher man and brought him ashore. Large quantities of Bathurst burrs ant. , bindi-eyes were taken from his skin. ,n
