CROWN AND NATIVE LANDS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] RAWENE, Monday Speaking of the collection of rate: nr. a meeting joi the Hokianga County Council, the manager, Mr. It. Russell contended that some different systerr of collection sliould be adopted. H< suggested that a system of time pay niont might prove more acceptable. Further consideration of the mattei was deferred. The chairman, Mr. A. C. Yar borough, moved that the Govcrnmen lio asked to provide money to enabl< county ratepayers to receive at leas' a 25 per cent rebate 011 rates strucl for the year 1934-35 and that it bi pointed out that County Councils wer< put to considerable difficulty in collect ing sufficient money to carry on by no Ibeing able to collect native rates o: those from Crown tenants, and owint to the difficult position farmers wen in to-day. \ The motion was, carried. %
