OBITUARY

MR. L. H. McCORMIGK INVENTOR AND AUTHOR (Received February 4, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. Feb. S The death has occurred at Miami Beach, Florida, of Leander Hamilton McCormick, of Chicago, a well-known author and inventor.

The late Mr. L. H. McCormick wass born in Chicago on May 2/, 1859. Ah a youth he studied law and architecture. He married an English girl, Miss Constance Plummer, in February, 188' :> and lived in London for 17 years. Hus numerous inventions included aeroplanes, an aerial torpedo, motor-cycles and a watch which records tune the world over, etc. Mr. McCormick possessed an art collection which embraced the early English and old Dutch schools. He was the author of " Characterology" and oir several articles on philosophical and psychological topics. MR. E. L. JONES AUSTRALIAN PASTORALIST SYDNEY. Jones was born at Burwood, Now South Wales, and was educated at Sydney Grammar School and Sydney University He was a member of the council of the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales and director of several companies. Ho was director and deben-tnre-holder trustee of the New South Wales Lawn Tennis Ground, Limited. For some Years he represented the State in tennis. In 1915-16 he was commissioner for tho Red Cross Society, Egypt.
