BILLIARDS MUDDLE
COMING CHAMPIONSHIP QUESTION OF THE VENUE (Received February 4, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 3 It is understood that Joe Davis is communicating with Walter Lindrum, tho present holder of the English and Australian billiards championship about the venue of tho next championship. Presumably he is in favour of Australia.. J.t seems to be taken for granted that if Lindrum enters, as he must, he, McConachy and Davis, and possibly Newman, will all vote fpr play in Australia. Tho Daily Herald says that if Lindrum does not enter for the championship, the entries for which will close in a fortnight, he will automatically cease to bo champion. The secretary of the Billiards Council says ho hopes Lindrum will do tho right thing. If the worst comes to the worst and he still refuses to return the cup., the council will have no option but to take drastic steps to recover it.
Lindrum was requested recently to return the cup to London with a view to tho 1934 championship being held here. Ho declined to do so, saying the championship must he played in Australia before he could be dispossessed of the trophy.
