IDEAS ABOUT FURS
Good furs are worth any amount of time and trouble devoted to them, for they will Inst long and give splendid service. Frequent combing of furs is essential. A small fur comb should be used regularly once a week, when furs are worn every day, and whenever the fur has been shaken dry after wetting.
Always shake a stole or coat before and after wearing. A gentle beating with a small, light cane does furs a lot of good. Do this in the garden on a fine day, and hang the fur out of doors afterward. Plenty of fresh air is good for furs. Do not put furs near the fire. When nob in use see that they are hung in a cool place. Valuable furs should be put in cold storage for the summer. Beating with a cane will help to keep moths at bay by dislodging any larvae.
When furs are stored at home, see that they are thoroughly clean, then place them in moth-proof bags, in a tin box if possible. If wrapped 'in layers of clean newspapers, with plenty of camphor balls sprinkled among them, moths will be kept away. To cut fur, place the skin side uppermost, mark with chalk the shape you wish to cut, and then take a sharp knife or razor and cut firmly with the right hand, using the left to steady the material.
