TRIALS AT RICCARTON

CANDIDATES FOR DUNEDIN GALLOP BY SILVER RING KING MARCH AND SOUTHDOWN [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday Track and climatic conditions at Riccarton to-day were conducive to fast times, and some interesting work by horses booked to raco at Dunedin next week was witnessed. No. 6 grass track was in most use, while a few gallops were executed on tho plough. On the plough. High Rank and Wild Sky strode over seven furlongs in 1.35, and Heather Glow registered similar time. On the grass, Cleaner and Red Dance finished together at tho end of sevon furlongs in 1.33, and Cup Bearer ran half-a-mile under restraint in 525. Sam Smith and Star Raider covered six furlongs in 1.16 3-5, the latter giving a pleasing display. Grampian and Water Polo ran over the Bamo ground in 1.16 4-5. Grampian has shown marked improvement lately. Custodian and Dollar Princo took 1.17 for the same journey the last three in 38 2-ss. Trumpet Blast and ITinneller reeled of! five furlongs in 1.3, the former finishing slightly in front. ' Silver Ring (G. This filly has' staged somo excellent track essays during the past fortnight and will be an interesting contestant in the open six furlongs event at Wingatui on Thursday. The Bailiff finished in front of Bowlands, with Importance tailed off, after completing six furlongs in 1.17 2-5, tho last three in 39 2-sa. Vintage again impressed. Davolo easily accounted for Gay Robe over six furlongs in 1.17 2-5.

Great Star, Grand Review and Double Shot were let off with useful work over six furlongs. King March has been nominated for the Midsummer Handicap at the Canterbury Jockey Club's Summer Meeting.
