Tho Midsummer Handicap provided a thrilling race from start to finish. Ayrmont Chimes and Vesuvius shared the pacc-muk-ing with tho rest of tho field bunched. In the straight a great raco ensued, and six horses passed tho post almost in lino. Sir Guy, who was always well placed, won by a head in a desperato finish from Royal Silk, Lindbergh, Sunny Morn, Ayrmont. Chimes and Belinda. Lindbergh registered 4.16 3-5 and stamped himself as ono of tho fastest pacers of all time. In tho Craven Handicap Indianapolis confirmed his claim for selection in the races against Walla Walla and gavo a remarkable exhibition of speed. Roddy mado a fast I pace from the start, and with Tndianapolin in attendance* led for a mile. The four-year-old then raced to the lead and hold his own to win decisively from Kingcraft. Only four years o!d,_ Indianapolis is a wonderful sprinter. Kingcraft also went 2.37, and both tho winner and runner-up should bo in lino for tho rncc against Walla Walla.

An accident, to Silver de Oro nnd Bine Mountain in tho Linwood Trandicap robbed that race of some interest, but Arethusa followed Somerby throughout nnd won nicely at tho end. Ifo led from end to end and gave nothing else a chance. Reporter hung on gamely and Avernus registered 4.31 1-5 from a 4..11 mark. First Wrack gavo a brilliant exhibition of trottirtg in tho Cashmere Handicap, fairly outclassing her field over a mile and alialf. Sho is ono of tho best trotters in New Zealand. Lilian Boijd, from R. B, P.ri-y'n stable, showed herself a good ono when sho won tho Liverpool Handicap. Sho hrtd to go round a good field nnd fairly outstayed tho others. Royal Chenault being tho only one to llirenten danger. Although Lilian Bond won at, Forbury Fnvk tho previous week, sho was allowed to pay a doublufiguro dividend.
