PLAY ON SATURDAY LAST TIME-LIMIT ADHERED TO GREEN LANE'S SURPRISE WIN Owing to the Domain being used for the athletic championships, the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association was compelled to play its senior grade matches on suburban grounds on Saturday afternoon. The weather was perfect, although the wickets were not up to the usual standard. All matches were played under special conditions, and a complete series was decided in the one day, two and a-half hours being allowed for each innings. At Walker Park, Green Lane caused a surprise by defeating Harbour Board. The former compiled 1 ( J8 after a bright display of batting. Harbour Board was dismissed for 105, and Green Lane thus went into second place in the championship. At Victoria Park, 11.V. defeated Mount Roskill on the first innings, and retained its leading position in the championship. In the match between Ponsonby and Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys neither side completed an innings, and the game was drawn. Ponsonby made 201 for nine wickets, while Mount Albert scored 189 for the same number of wickets.

Peebles was largely responsible for dism/hsing Mount Roskill for 151 against 3ft.V., which compiled 153 for the loss of five wickets. Finlayson also bowled effectively in the early stages. Longville, 49, was the top scorer for R.V. He hit five fours and one six. Lund, 22, and Anderson, 23, also batted well. A good partnership between W. HARBOUR BOARD BEATEN GREEN LANE'S IMPROVEMENT Green Lane showed improved batting form and won a good game against Harbour Board, Gedye, 52, who opened for Green Lane, gave his best display this season and scored all round the wicket with nicely placed shots. A. Lonergan, 42, and G. Mornian, 49, were associated in a sound partnership. Harbour Board failed badly against Green Lane's attack. Both A. Kerr and Menzies bowled well. J.
