ANIMAL WELFARE
BETTER LAWS WANTED A deputation from tho Society for tho Prevention of Cruelty to Animals waited upon tho Primo Minister, tho Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, on Saturday morning, and urged tho introduction of improved legislation for tho care of animals and tho need for an animals' protection Act. The society has been advised that tho Governor-General, Lord Bleclisloe, and Lady Bledisloe will visit tho society's new Blue Cross Hospital and Home at Penrose. A generous donation has been received from Mr. P. H. Smith, huntsman of tho Pakuranga Hunt Club, and Sirs. Smith, whoso annual gymkhana, under tho patronage of the Hunt Club is for tho benefit of animals.
