STOCKS AND SHARES
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE QUIET SATURDAY MORNING A quiet morning was experienced on fhe Auckland Stock Exchange on Saturday. Levels for the most part showed little alteration. All Government loans continued to command strong support, but sellers operated spspngly. Inquiry for several banks was a trifle firmer. New Zealands, after a currentprice sale, advanced 3d to 50s, while Unions were secured/ again at £lO. Sellers were less active in insurance, in which the only dealing was another sale in Australian Provincials at 10s lid. Other investment sections were quiet on light trading. Bycrofts were taken again at 42s 3d. In mining there was firmer support for prominent issues in sympathy with the higher price of gold. Blackwaters had inquiry at 345, and Consolidateds were wanted 2s 3d higher at 17s 9d. Offers/for Waihis hardened 2d to 30s, while holders raised their quotations 3d to 30s 3d. Junctions were secured at 4s fed, a penny lower than last business.
