The day was perfect. J. B. Macfarlane, tho national sprint champion, won his heat of the 100 yards in 10s and won the final very easily in 10 l-ss. In tho 220 yards Macfarlane won in 22 2-ss, equalling the New Zealand standard. Broadway beat Anderson decisively in the half-milo in lm 55 4-ss, one second outside the record. Broadway also won the 440 yards in 49 4-ss, Anderson being second one yard behind. C. H. Matthews, making his first appearance at an open championship meeting, won tho mile easily in 4m 24 3-ss. Todd at Wellington in 1922. Brown's timo was 55m 52 2-ss. Miss B. Forbes, Oamaru, did 4ft. 9£in., the ladies' bigh jump, which is claimed to establish a New Zealand record. WEST COAST CENTRE RECORDS S. A. BLACK IN GOOD FORM [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday Three centre records wero broken and one equalled at the West Coast, North Island Centro, championships yesterday. The track was somewhat slow because of recent rain and heavy dew. Tho sports provided a contest between the Wanganui and Taranaki sub-centres. Manawatu not being represented. Taranaki won 17 titles and Wanganui seven.

New centre records were as follows: — Half-mile walk: C. W. Coleman, Eltham, 3m 3 2-ss. Mile walk: S. C. Coleman, Eltham, 6m 40 4-ss. Putting the shot: A. D. Adlam, Stratford, 38ft. lsin. The Taranaki ladies' relay team equalled the 440 yards record of 53 l-ss. S. A. Black, New Plymouth, won the 220 yards and 440 yards titles after fast races, being two-fifths and three-fifths of a second respectively outside the centre record. J. Wade, Wanganui, New Zealand title-holder, was beaten by the New Plymouth youth, M. Chartoris, in the three-miles cycle race.
