DRIVER AND BOY UNHURT COLLISION WITH TRAMCAR The driver of a heavy motor-truck and a boy passenger had a narrow escape from, injury late yesterday afternoon, when the vehicle was involved in a collision with a tramcar in Khyber Pass Road and capsized, finishing with its wheels in the air. The occupants escaped unscathed, although the cab of the truck was partly' torn from the chassis and the engine bonnet was extensively damaged. The truck, . one of the AucklandTaupo Transport Company's vehicles, was en route to Taupo with a load, and when approaching Newmarket it became interlocked with the tramcar, / which was travelling in the same direction. The truck was swung across the tramlines in front of the tramcar and turned over with a loud crash on to its hood. Barrels of beer, several sacks of flour, cases of honey \and custard powder, some chairs a bed stretcher, which were in' the ba.;k of the truck, were strewn on to the road. The capsized vehicle blocked tramway traffic for a period until it was turned over on to its side by several men and pushed into Melrose Street, ■with benzine pouring from its tank. The truck was finally towed away by a break-down waggon, and the scattered load was put on to another logry. ■ 3 LORRY'S • WILD CAREER RUNS DOWN ONEHUNGA HILL i An unattended motor-lorry suddenly moved off from the hill on 'which it had been standing and careered down Arthur Street West, Onehunga, at about 4.30 yesterday afternoon, startling residents when it crashed into an electriclight pole at the bottom of the incline. The collision arrested the vehicle's wild progress and it came to a standstill ; a short distance from the pole on th® other side of the load. The owner and driver of the lorry, Mr. J. Robinson, of Mangere, who was engaged in delivering groceries and produce, had gone into a house with some goods, v;hen the vehicle began to move off. The front axle, a spring and a wheel were broken and the radiator and bodywork also suffered. None of the groceries or produce were displaced to any extent, although a number of eggs was smashed. '
