Friday Seven yearlings bought by Australian sportsmen at the Trentham sales, also Forestry and Valdarado, wero shipped by the Mamma, which left Wellington to-duy for Sydney. For all except Forestry, who goes to J. T. Jamieson, this part of the trip is only the initial stage of their journeying. Consigned to Mr. J. J. O'Hara. of Perth, wero four of the yearlings find also Valdarndo. The yearling 3 were tho. Chief Killer-—. Pebble 11. bay colt (who cost 275gns), the Chief Ruler—Lady Pym chestnut colt (175gns). the, Captain Bunsby—Sweet Friar chestnut (40gns)', and the Iliad-*-Isi chestnut filly <3sgn«). Two other youngsters were also bound finally for Western Australia, these being tho bigh-pricod Iliad—ment brown filly (who cost OOOgns), and the Chief Ruler—Kirima bay filly (200gns), both purchased nt tho sales on behalf of Mr. F. E. Willenoun, of Perth. The remaining youngster was tho Chief Ruler— Rossclate bay colt, for whom Mr. E. 12. Jolly, of Adelaide, paid 6t!ogns. Barr) and Fleeting Glance (11. Turner). The former went off in front but after jumping two fences ho was joined by Fleeting Glance and the pair raced abreast at a fast pace over four ftiore hurdles, The display Was faultless and both should again race prominently in hurdlo events at tho Dunedin meeting next week.' Mr. G. Gerard wa.s among the spectators at Riccarton yostcrday. He has not raced any horses for some timej but still figures na an owner of some young Btock bred, on his property. Ona of these, a four-year-old filly by Silverado from Amourette, is in J. 11. Prosser's stable and she is to bo raced by Prosser under ft partnership arrangement. Sho is a likely-looking filly and showed up well iti a gallop over five furlongs with Double Shot Amourette, eHll owned by Mr. Gerard, is an eight-year-old maro by Psychology from Lovelock, by Martian from Lovelorn, dam of many winners. Amourette raced in tho interests of Mr n Gerard, but although she commanded a marked tm.n of.speed, sho did not raco up to her early promiso and was retired to tho stud as a fpur-year-old. Young has lodged an appeal against his suspension by the Wairoa Racing Club, which in all probability will bo heard in Hastings early next week. If successful Young will bo able to ride at Gisborne next Thursday and Saturday. Golden Wings is to contest the Taranaki Stakes at New Plymouth next Saturday. Tho field is not strong, as only four others. Pomp, Diatomous, British Columbia, and Souchong, remain in. Tho three-year-old filly Secrecy, recently purchased by Mr. W. H. Gaisford, has joined F. Davis' team at Woodvillo. Davis will also train for Mr. Gaisford the yearling' colt by Posterity from Homage and a three-year-old gelding by Greyspcar. Besides eoven Australian-owned yoarlings ho is breaking in. the Trentham trainer H. Telford has ulso received tho Iliad— Eba filly, a half-sister to Dole, to prepare for Captain B. H. Edkins. her breeder and first owner of Dole. PROGRAMME FOR TAURANGA The programme for the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club's annual meeting ' at Tauranga on- March 24 and 26, provides for a total of £1425 in prize-motiey. The Tauranga Cup Handicap, H miles, on tho first day, is worth £175, and tho Herries' Memorial Handicap, 1 mile, on tho second day, £135, Nominations close on March 9.
