EARL BIRKENHEAD TRADITION
GRAY'S INN CARRIES ON The memory of the tate Earl of Birkenhead, who was a Bencher of Gray's Inn, was honoured at the Hall of the Inn on December 14, when two loving cups, 12 silver tankards, and a smith's hammer in silver were presented for use in the Benchers' room. The Inn's collection of tankards, now numbering 60 or 70, was started by the late Lord Birkenhead, who persuaded friends he enterto-ined at the Inn to arid to the collection. The last one added to those in use was presented by the present Earl of Birkenhead on the occasion of hi&coming-of-age celebration in the hallr loving .cups are of the "finest hand craftsmanship, and bear the Birkenhead coat-of-arzas*
