Watson, S.M., William James Blackmail, on a charge of keeping liquor for sale in a proclaimed area, was . convicted and sentenced to four months' imprisonment. Alexander Shaw, of Mokauiti, was convicted of keeping liquor for sale in I a proclaimed area and fined £3O. The . police took action in this case because of complaints that defendant was in 1 the habit of selling liquor at dances. The defence was that the liquor was ; purchased by "tarpaulin muster." EL L. Derbidge was convicted on a charge of selling liquor in a proclaimed area and fined £SO.
