The exchange premium on dividends payable in sterling is not included in the calculation of returns. The yield on 4 per cent Go\ ernment loans includes redemption and that on 3£ per cent loans is for interest alone, and covers only the period for which the loans are tax-free. KAURI GUM MARKET The gum market in January continued quiet, the only demand being for good quality black chips. A total of 165 tons of' gum was received into store, as against 209 tons in December, a decrease of 44 tons. Tho quantity rereived into store for January last year was 167 tons.
